NFTs are short for non-fungible tokens and most often understood as a means to create uniqueness for a piece of digital art. NFTs tied to digital art have become valuable on open marketplaces frequented by NFT collectors. which accumulate value based on time and scarcity.

MPPOA is on the cutting edge of using NFTs within a fundraising campaign thanks to the NFT creating software platform called EngageMint.io

MPPOA Executive Director Brian Peters said, “MPPOA, as the voice of law enforcement, has been vocal about increased public safety for communities, and honoring those officers who run towards danger every day. This first NFT collection, launched during National Police Week, demonstrates this commitment. We hope others will support us and the law enforcement community.”

ABC News: NFTs Use in Politics (Dr. Scott Jensen Campaign eary player in the game)

Non-fungible tokens -- digital assets that cannot be replicated and can be used to represent real-world items -- are slowly creeping into the political world, with a few candidates already using them to raise thousands of dollars.

"NFTs are bringing more people into our fold, into our movement," said Max Rymer, a digital consultant for Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen.

Jensen's campaign saw an opportunity for NFTs to be a low-dollar way for people to become engaged with their candidate and receive something of value in return for their donations, Rymer told ABC News.

Through the sale of NFTs, "we've added 2,500 new people that are going to support our campaign going forward," Rymer said.

At the Minnesota state fair on September 1, 2021, Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Dr. Scott Jensen released his line of gubernatorial NFTs for donors, activists, and enthusiasts.  And he became the first candidate in WORLD HISTORY to offer NFT assets as a fundraising donation gift. He is also the first candidate in history to use NFTs as an integral part of a campaign fundraising strategy.

To run such an innovative fundraising program, the Jensen campaign worked with the EngageMint.io NFT development and delivery platform to manage it unique fundraising NFT program. The EngageMint.io platform is the only NFT development platform designed to be used by political campaigns to serve up NFTs as part of a fundraising program.

Jensen's NFT releases are based on his state fair presence and give users a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own "carnival poster" rich graphic images from his campaign. The State Fair NFT line was made available to donors at the fair and for a week after it ended. EngageMint's NFToption feature made the whole program possible and deliverable to an extensive group of potential donors through social media and other marketing channels. The program connected the average donor with the new world of engaging and dynamic NFTs.

Jensen's Campaign Co-Chair/NFL Legend Matt Birk announced the release of two more exclusive pieces a day later. Like with Jensen's announcement the day before, for only a $5 donation, any fairgoer received an NFToptions™ that gave them the rights for a limited amount of time to "mint" an NFT using blockchain technology, thus creating long-term value as a digital collectible. The first two released were "Life is a Miracle" and "Pronto Pups". Of those paying $5 for an NFToptions™, about 25% converted the option into an NFT and had it delivered to their crypto wallet.

Jensen said of his NFT fundraising program, "We're running a campaign which has brought new people into the fold of politics. A huge reason that's happened is our digital content, targeting, and innovative use of new tools like NFToptions and NFTs. By getting into the NFT space and working with EngageMint.io, we are creating unprecedented engagement across Minnesota and the country through digital media while continuing to develop a small-dollar fundraising machine. We could not be more thrilled with our State Fair NFT fundraising program, and there will be many more releases during the campaign season."

Donors who acquired Dr. Scott Jensen NFToptions also had the chance for even more exclusive offerings, such as virtual one-on-ones with Scott Jensen, attend Matt Birk, Vikings watch parties and other exclusive digital content.
